We're excited to welcome three new members to the Summit College Club this July.
Beth Krawzcuk has been an active member of the Madison - AAUW branch for about 15 years, managing their website and helping with social media. As a STEM professional herself — Beth works as a programmer at Labcorp — she also created the "Speed Dating for STEM" program that Madison has delivered bi-annually, where middle school and high school girls network with professional women from across STEM fields. At home, Beth's three children — her oldest just graduated college and her twins, a freshman and a sophomore in high school, one of whom has special needs — all keep her quite busy in her "free time." But when she renewed her AAUW membership this year, she thought back to the Summit College Club luncheon she attended last fall, featuring three Tech Trek graduates as speakers. "I decided to become a dual member;" she said, "I want to contribute to the Summit branch as well."
Lauren Lawrence grew up in Summit, and after 10 years of living in NYC, Lauren returned with her husband and young daughter, looking for a home. They ended up purchasing Erna Hoover's home, when Erna moved to Massachusetts. Lauren and Erna stayed in touch, and at a recent party for Erna she met other Summit College Club members — and decided to join! Lauren works at IHeartRadio, overseeing a Client Services Teams. She is also now the mother of two daughters, ages 1 and 5. "I do have a lot going on," she acknowledged, "but I'm always looking for ways to get involved and give back."
Jeannette Colflesh has known about AAUW since childhood, when her mother was a member of the former Westfield branch. About ten years ago, Jeannete moved in across the street from Erna Hoover, and they became good friends. "Erna would tell me, 'You have to keep your mind sharp, so I'm giving you this book to read and we'll talk about it next week...'" At a recent celebration of Erna, Jeannette and her new neighbor, Lauren Lawrence, were seated with Lynne Rogerson. By the end of the party, they had decided to join Summit College Club together. Jeannette has one son, who is 9 and a very active puppy. She is also active in a small business she started with her Mom, Peyton & Clark and enjoys photography as a hobby.
We'd love to have you as part of the Summit College Club!
