About the Event
Join us on Saturday, October 22 at 1:30 in the lobby of the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey in Summit. Our September speaker, VACNJ Executive Director Melanie Cohn, will lead our tour. We will experience a Japanese RAKU-Fest: a firing process in which red-hot ceramic pieces are transferred directly into a container of combustible material, creating one-of-a-kind effects in the ceramic glaze. We will see the exhibition, Ripple Effects featuring artwork of observations about the world around us by VACNJ teaching artists. A 2:00 p.m. panel discussion is entitled Observing Observation: The Role of Environment in Art Making. After the panel discussion, we are invited to a community gallery reception at 3:30.
