The Summit College Club Book Sale began in 1935 and has been held over 70 times. The Book Sale funds our scholarships, supports our educational goals, and in many senses defines our organization for the public. Largely because of its success, Summit College Club has awarded nearly a million dollars in scholarships.
The SCC Book Sale does nothing by halves! In a typical year, it offers for sale more than fifty thousand books helpfully arranged in dozens of categories. It draws readers and book dealers from the entire New York metropolitan area and across New Jersey. Virtually all SCC members help out in one way or another over the course of the year: they plan and publicize, set up and break down the hall, accept, sort, arrange, and restock the donated books, and see that any leftovers find their way to other uses.
Two celebrations follow the sale: a party for all those who volunteered their time and effort, and a Scholarship Reception, at which SCC awards the scholarships and honors the achievement of the winners and their proud parents.

We Welcome Volunteers!
Volunteering to sort books before the sale, assist customers during the sale or help clear up afterward is a great way to get to know Summit College Club. For some of us, book sorting is fun, too! If you'd like to be added to our contact list for volunteer sign-ups, please fill out the form to the right. We'll reach out as soon as we have dates and logistics confirmed. Thanks!
